2 Thessalonians Part 4 – Stand Firm in Faith and Love

Reverend Phil Simmonds

PASTORS THOUGHTS

“For our final message in this Thessalonian’s series, Christians are encouraged to stand firm in two ways

1. To stand firm and hold fast to the teachings of God’s Word, that is the infallible and inerrant TRUTH of the Bible under the prayerful guidance of the Holy Spirit and

2. To stand firm in our commitment to prayer for our brothers and sisters in Christ, especially for those who have been called to preach and share the Gospel – specifically for
ministers and missionaries, but also for all Christians whom God provides the opportunity to witness in Jesus Name.”

2 Thessalonians Part 3 – The Man of Lawlessness – Part 2

Reverend Phil Simmonds

PASTORS THOUGHTS

“In Part 2 of the “Man of Lawlessness”, God has provided not just Christians, but the World, with a future insight of what to expect in the ‘lead up’ to the revealing of the Man of Lawlessness, and what will subsequently happen in the latter stages of World history – before the Grand and Glorious Finale – the Lord’s 2nd coming! Whilst this can be understandably of concern and even frightening, Christian’s should never lose sight of the fact that no matter what happens in the World arena, God is in control – as 2 Thess.2:6-7 and Col.1:15-17 remind us – and most importantly, that God, in Christ, will not only enable all true believers to endure/persevere 2.Cor.4:8 – but will personally protect their saved souls 1 Pet.1:3-5.”

2 Thessalonians Part 2 – The Man of Lawlessness – Part 1

Reverend Phil Simmonds

PASTORS THOUGHTS

“Thessalonians 2 provides some specific information re 2 major events that will proceed the 2nd coming of the Lord Jesus – first, the rebellion of people against God and His Gospel – second, the revealing of the Man of Lawlessness – and although this may be confronting, it should always be remembered that these events are all under the control and allowance of God the Father. This week we’ll look at the first event, the Rebellion, which should not surprise Christian’s to learn is, in a limited way, already in progress! 2 Tim.4:3.

2 Thessalonians Part 1 – God is Just

Reverend Phil Simmonds

PASTORS THOUGHTS

“2 Thessalonians continues the theme of 1 Thessalonians, encouraging the small and new Christian congregation to persevere in their suffering for the sake of their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ – with the knowledge that their suffering for Christ’s sake would not go unnoticed nor unpunished by God the Father!
God is just, and His faithful In Christ will receive their promised resurrection into the personal and everlasting presence of God – Revelation Chapter 21. This is the promised hope of all true Christians – is it also yours?”

1 Thessalonians Part 6 – Awaiting the Lord’s return Part 2

Reverend Phil Simmonds

PASTORS THOUGHTS

The closing verses of 1 Thessalonians 5 (vs. 12-28) come under the heading of “Final instructions”, and in them God, through Paul, sets out a comprehensive “how to check list” for the Christian church to live by – awaiting the Lord’s return. Notice the emphasis is upon “living” a life pleasing to God in Christ that will witness His setting apart of His people – which in turn should bind them together in the unity of Christ – enabling His church to stand united in times of difficulty and challenges! Take some time to read through the “check list” – would we pass muster?”
